1. Why did Mark create "Facesmash"?

He created it to be a hot or not website for Havard students. This was to test how get people on a site and to get back at his ex girlfriend.

2.  Do you believe that this website could lead to young women feeling insecure about their appearance?  Based on our discussions in class, how do you think most of these women would react to their ratings.

I think it would make them fell insecure because they are being compared to others. I think most women would be disgusted and very few would like it.

3. Do you think Mark was a cyberbully?  Please elaborate?

He was a bit of a bully with the site by using it to compare girls but he didn't do much else that made him a bully. He can be a bit of a douche bag like ignoring people, being a smart alec, etc but I wouldn't consider him to be a bully

4. When does Mark decide to expand the site to other schools? What role did Erica have in this decision?
Erica doesn't have Facebook because she doesn't go to Harvard. Mark wants her to know about it so he tries to expand it to other schools.

5. “I was your only friend - you had one friend,” Eduardo tells Mark across the deposition table. What is Mark and Eduardo's friendship like? Why did it break down?

Mark did things that Eduardo didn't want to do and Eduardo wanted things that Mark didn't like putting ads on the site. After a while they got sick of each other.

6. How did Mark get the idea to include relationship status on Facebook profiles? What explanation does he give to Eduardo for including this on Facebook?

I guy came up to him asking him a girl that he liked was dating someone else. This way people know what someone else is interested in and if they are in a relationship. People want to be in a relationship but don't know if they are already in one.
7. “As if every thought that tumbles through your head was so clever it would be a crime for it not to be shared,” Mark's ex Erica snaps at Mark. Why are people drawn to the idea of broadcasting their personal lives on the internet?

People want to tell other people about their and get things off their chest also they want to get their opinion on what they are doing.

8. “The internet's not written in pencil, Mark. It's written in ink,' states Erica, seething at the comments he blogged about her. Why is the typed word so powerful? Why is it tempting to misuse this power online? What positive things can social-networking sites achieve when used to their full potential?

A typed world can be saved forever and always be accessed by anybody. I think people misuse their power because they think there is no consequences. Now with the social networking sites people of different age groups, social ranks, races, can be together. Even people across the world can become friends and share their experiences and some can even help people out that need it.

9. In what ways does Facebook encourage us to define ourselves? How does this affect our identity and self-image?

Facebook wants you to express your feelings and thoughts to other people. With it being online people tend to share more than face to face but that can have its problems as well. Since most people don't see their friends on Facebook that much except for a few, people try to look a certain way and only put out certain things about them out there (that may or may not be true) and leave out the others so they look different than they actually are.

10. How are the themes of 'coolness' and money played out through the film? How do you think users of Facebook will react to knowing that, by sharing their lives publicly, they are allowing someone else to make billions from their personal information?

Facebook is only for Harvard students at first and they are able to make a lot of money off Facebook. People must feel that it is scary but they wouldn't stop using Facebook because of it. They don't think it affects them that much.

11. Facebook has around 500 million members worldwide. What impact has it had on our culture?

It has brought out a good and bad side inside of us. Now people are always on their phones, computers, etc checking their Facebook and talking about stuff that does matter and doesn't matter. Even stores have Facebook accounts and they use it so people know when they are open, sales, etc. People are doing some good things like exposing a corruption in a charity or spreading false information out to people. Even though there are a lot of negatives, it has a big positive effect on our culture.
